Here a 1980s cherry red metallic Yamaha SG-510 electric guitar in excellent state; there is very little and hardly noticeable wear on the body and neck. The Yamaha SG-510 was introduced in 1984 as a follow up to the earlier Yamaha SG-300 and Yamaha SG-400 that were issued in 1978-1979 as an addition to the initial Yamaha SG export line up. Yamaha SG-500, 700, 1500 and 2000 that were produced since 1976.
The SG-510 was produced in red, black and a special issue in blue, with the blue being the rarest and referring to the famous Japanese guitarist Noyori Takanaka. The SG-510 is a light-weight guitar, constructed from mainly Agathis (Asian Mahogany) and Nato (from the Mora Trees, with structure similar to mahogany, but less dense). It is an excellent guitar lighter weight makes it easy to play, with powerful sound from 2 double humbuckers. A black version of this guitar was used by Andy Taylor of Duran Duran on the live recordings of “Rio”.
