Here an example of a rare 45+ year old Yamaha SG-45, a single cutaway Yamaha SG; these guitars were produced during a short period from 1972-74; The body construction was from Asian Mahogany (Nato) with a set Mahogany neck. The finish was simple and were either natural wood, or the darker mahogany. Typical weight of these models was around the 3.5 kgs. The sound of these vintage gems is outstanding, produced by a simple 2 tone/2 vol arrangement with a 3-way pick up selector switch. Hardware was chrome, with a diecast 6 saddle terminator type hardtail stopbar. The sound of this model is full, with a strong presence, ideal for rock and rhythm. The 3 models in this particular line up were the Yamaha SG-45, 65 and 85.
I have the VERY same Yam.
Bought it and played the hell out of it in high school.
