Not a Gibson Les Paul, but perhaps a better one, a rare Yamaha SL-800s, the 1970/80’s top of the range version of Japanese Yamaha Les Paul Studio Lord model issue 2, these guitars were produced during the late 1970’s till the early 1980s, along the well known Yamaha SG range.
This Yamaha Yamaha SL-800s was produced in the famous Fujigen factory shops and was deemed the top type of the later Yamaha Les Paul (SL/LP) range. The earlier range had the SL-1000 and LP-1000 Custom at the top. The guitar sports a solid body, fitted with a set neck, ebo fretboard, top quality chrome hardware, dual metal covered Yamaha Humbuckers. The guitar body is decorated with mother of pearl fret markers and cream binding that has beautifully aged to a cream yellow hue. The sound is awesome and compares well it’s high end Gibson counterpart.
