Here a rare 1981 Yamaha SG-400 electric guitar ; The Yamaha SG-400 was introduced alongside the equally rare Yamaha SG-300 in 1981 as a follow up to the earlier Yamaha SG-500, SG-500B and Yamaha SG-600 that were issued in 1976-1981 as an addition to the initial Yamaha SG line up of Yamaha SG-500, 700, 1000, 1500 and SG-2000
The SG-400 was produced in translucent red and tobacco Sunburst, and the SG-300 in black or burgundy . The SG-400 is a light-weight, but excellent guitar and its flat set neck design and lighter weight makes it easy to play, it has low action with a powerful sound from 2 high output double hum-buckers. Hardware is brass plated chrome. A chrome hardware version of this guitar was labelled Yamaha SG-300, the Yamaha SG-400 appears to be rare and not issued in Japan.
