Yamaha Studio Lord, SL-550s, a great example of a Japanese Yamaha Les Paul model from the 1980’s. Made in Japan, these guitars were produced during the 1970s and early 1980s, together with the well known Yamaha SG range;
This Yamaha SL was produced in the famous Matsumoku Factory and was deemed one of the great examples of the Les Paul (SL/LP) range, effortlessly exceeding their equivalent Gibson counterparts, in fact testing it along a 1977 Gibbo LP standard, it just eats it…!! The guitar sports a solid body, fitted with a set neck, chrome hardware, dual Yamaha Humbuckers. The guitar body is decorated with mother of pearl fret markers and cream coloured binding that has beautifully aged to a cream yellow hue. Guitar has seen good use and has acquired some minor scratches and other wear, however, this all adds to the character of the instrument and give it real patina and mojo.
