Here a vintage midrange range Yamaha SL-600s, Studio Lord, the Japanese Yamaha version of the Les Paul model. These guitars were produced during the 1970s and early 1980s, together with the better known Yamaha SG range. This model has a maho body, maple cap and rosewood fingerboard with a set neck. The guitar sports the open book headstock, to emulate the Gibsons of the day, and landed Yamaha with a Gibson lawsuit. However, that does not detract from the quality of the Yamahas. Studio Lords were more than just Yamaha’s Les Paul type copies; high quality, solidly and well build guitars that can take on their Gibson counterparts with pride, like any vintage Japanese guitar, this one has been well used and may have some genuine play wear, not relicing like some manufacturers currently do. However, that all ads to the character and gives this axe lots of mojo and vintage vibe. Guitar is kitted out with strong humbuckers and a coil tapping option factory fitted, the tonal range of this geet is great.
