New to my collection, one of the flagship guitars of Gibson’s Guitar development, the 1978 Gibson RD Artist – Rare Gibson guitar and top of the range 1970s guitar with factory fitted Moog electronics circuit. This is the 1978 version of one of the most ambitious Gibson electric guitars, designed by Gibsons R& D team, hence the prefix RD Artist. The guitar is a pandoras box with all the sound goodies everyone wants. In a way you could see, it’s a fusion between Gibson Recording and Firebird. Simply stunning sound. In addition to simple tone volume, it has a ” Bright” switch and “Expander / compression” circuits. Guitar plays like a dream and is set up lovely and low. Body and neck are in superb condition and the hardware has acquired some cool patina. Frets are in excellent shape and the ebony fretboard plays nice and smooth. Lives in its rectangular Gibson RD hard case.
