Yamaha SL-380, 1977

On offer a vintage 1977 Yamaha Studio Lord, SL-380, a great example of a Japanese Yamaha Les Paul model from the 1970’s. Made in Japan, these guitars were produced during the 1970s and early 1980s, alongside the well known Yamaha SG range;

This Yamaha SL is the entry level of the Yamaha Les Paul models and together with the SL-400s model, was the only bolt on neck model from the series. Like other SL models this guitar was produced in the famous Matsumoku Factory and was deemed one of the typical examples of the Les Paul (SL/LP) range. This model fell in the category of Yamaha guitars that was produced to emulate the Gibson Les Paul model and are now commonly know as “Lawsuit guitars. This being the entry level model doesn’t mean it’s a poor guitar, in fact it seems effortlessly match their equivalent Gibson counterparts, in fact testing it along a 1977 Gibbo LP standard, it just eats it…!!

The guitar sports a solid body, fitted with a bolted neck, chrome hardware, dual Yamaha Humbuckers. The guitar body is decorated with mother of pearl fret markers and cream coloured binding that has aged to a creamy hue. Guitar has seen some use and has acquired some minor scratches and general wear, adding to the character of the instrument and giving it an attractive patina and clear mojo. Comes with its gig-bag. Weight of guitar approx. 3.8 Kgs, neck width at nut approx. 4.4 cm. Any questions pls ask. Price £395 ONO
