Yamaha SX-80 (1974, Natural Wood)

Rare Yamaha SX-80 – “The Devils Head” , 1974 in natural finish. Here an unusual guitar which was produced from 1973 to 1978. The SX-80 was the predecessor the better known SX-800A and SX-800B. The SX-80B sports 2 independent single coil, high output pick ups and its tonal variety and range is great, varying from soulful and clear, to a powerful growl. The construction materials varied between the SX models . The SX-80 model was made out of Katsura wood for the body and neck, with an rosewood board. An example of a rare SX guitar model and can be seen in some 1975 live footage of Deep Purple with Tommy Bolin.
