Been resisting getting a modern Gibbo V for a long time. Well here it is, as rare limited edition, Custom Shop, ‘59 Reissue Gibson Flying V. Spotted this Custom V and had to get it, turns out a hell of a great sound over a VOX AC30, clean etc, and also quite crunchy when put in slight overdrive. Despite the quite flat wide neck, the guitar plays superb and I consider it the best playing V in my collection. The strings are placed in a body thru fashion giving it more sustain. Guitar lives in its custom case, built like a boat.
Gibson Flying V
In my search for quality Gibson Flying Vs I found that 1970s and 1980s Vs are hard to get, let alone 1960s or 1950s. A certain Mr Lisec in the USA seems to have many 1960s Vs, anyway, here is a superb example of a 1984 Cream White V. This guitar looks the bizz, and sounds it too with its 2 brilliant Dirty Fingers power plants, wired in a Vol1/2 and Tone plus pup selector switch. The guitar can do either grungy and clean etc, the neck is quite slim with Ebony fretboard. The dirty fingers make it sound quit strong in the high end is great for lead. Rock and blues are the diet for this beast in clean or overdrive over my Hughes and a Kettner.
Been resisting getting a Gibbo V for a long time. Well here is another, a 2006, Gibson V in black. Before I got any V, I thought, Balancing problems, floating neck, diving body, uneven weight distribution. Pointy bits, etc. The list goes on. Saw this, and had to get it, great sound over a valve amp. Both grungy and clean etc, quite flat wide neck, hence plays wonderful rock, blues and even classical, and also can make a real rocky racket in overdrive over my Hughes and a Kettner.
