Here a great guitar from the Gibson stable, the Gibson Les Paul 61 reissue basically the then new SG shape. This guitar remained in production ever since byt lost the LesPaul affiliation and name in 1963 upon Les Pauls insistence. Thebody and neck are made from mahogany, the guitar has the usual double-cutaway style with bevelled edges. Great playing axe with a lighter weight than the Les Paul, still great resonance and sustain. Dark rosewood fingerboard with a cool look and feel, two PAF-style ’57 Classic humbucking pickups, and historically recreated and period accurate plastics.
Guitar is finished in Heritage Cherry finish nitrocellulose, giving this guitar a great vintage feel, despite it being a re-issue .
Pickups are period accurate PAF-styled humbuckers ’57 Classics, both neck and bridge positions. Alnico II magnets, wound with enamel-coated wire. Additionally , the coils have been wax potted to reduce micro phonic feedback and resulting squeal. Controls are the classic configuration of an independent volume and tone control for each pickup and a three-way toggle switch.Tune-o-matic bridge and vintage-style tuners with pearloid buttons, and a period correct Sideways Vibrato system (Vibrola). Cream binding, black top hat with silver volume and tone inserts, an early ’60s style five-ply black plastic pickguard, and traditional “bell” truss rod cover stamped with “Les Paul”
