Here we have a superb 1990s USA BC Rich Mockingbird Electric Guitar. A relatively heavy solid body guitar with 2 stock Dimarzio pick ups. The guitar’s 2 hum-buckers are kitted out with the BCR standard array of switching options including a pre amp and varitone switch allowing for a variety of tone and output. Apart from its build quality, it is quite a rare model and its serial number is embossed on the fretboard. It is one of the top ten guitars in the collection. The guitar has a fantastic feel to it, no neck dive or other instability issues and sound wise it is awesome too. The fret board is high quality ebony with cloud mother of Pearl markers. Guitar lives in its original hard-case.

Yamaha SX-800A (1976, Walnut Brown)

Here a Yamaha SX-800A  in walnut brown. The SX models were in the day also known as the “Devilhead Guitars” and along with the SG were developed after the earlier SG-90/175 that were made 1974-75. The SX was short lived and last models were issued in 1976/8. The A models were kitted out with hum-buckers and the B models had 3 single coils pickups. The construction materials varied between the A and B versions. The A version was made out of Maple and Mahogany for the body and the set neck was built from mahogany with an ebony board. Notable players were Tommy Bolin and Rory Gallagher.

Here from Fender Japan, here a super cool looking Fender Esprit Elite from 1985, one of the few Japan made Fender models, and a set neck model too. The guitar is made in a cool autumn sunburst finish. The Fender Esprit, along the Flame, and Robben Ford models were made in the famous Fujigen Gakki Factory. One of the few set neck models made by Fender.

Gibson Les Paul Standard Longhorn DC TAK Matsumoto (2011, Teal-burst Flame).

Here a rare and unusual Gibson Les Paul DC Standard. TAK Matsumoto model, in a cool teal Flame top finish. This is another example of the longhorn series, in a custom shop version, and issued in 2011 in very limited numbers. This model was issued in a number of finishes such as red, orange and black. Great looking glossy Burst finish on nicely figured maple double cut body. Slim profile set Mahogany neck, topped with unbound 22-fret Rosewood board with real a abalone inlays. Tone supplied by a pair of powerful hum-buckers with 3-way switch and master volume and tone.
Chrome hardware, including tuners. Guitar is in exceptional condition with some minor play wear as can be expected. Guitar lives in its plush lined Gibson Custom hard case.

Fender Stratocaster (2000s, Blue, Clapton model)

Here a cool 2009 Fender Stratocaster Custom Shop Eric Clapton model in a light blue finish with factory fitted with noiseless pick ups. One of my better guitars, completely unmolested and all original. Standard maple fretboard and simple classic Strat look.  Defo one of my best guitars. It’s a light and responsive guitar and easy to play. Very good condition, no obvious marks or dents. Lives in its Fender custom case.

 

Gibson Explorer E/2 (1980, Natural Wood)

Here is a 1980 Gibson Explorer with a Natural Wood finish. It’s a limited edition, released alongside the similar V2 and F2 models, though less sculpted with a flat body, yet boasting an impressive natural finish. Despite its angular appearance, it is well-balanced and plays smoothly. Explorers of this kind have contributed to the distinctive sound of U2. First designed in 1957, the Explorer, along with the Flying V and the rare Moderne, has become a collectible guitar. This particular example resides in its original rectangular hard case.  Its a heavy one coming in weighing approx 10 lbs 6.5oz. Electrics work fine and pots dating 1979/80, 5-Piece laminated neck, Ebony fingerboard. Overall the guitar is in really great shape, especially for its age. There is a bunch of play wear round the body and some buckle rash on the back.

Here is a 1981 Gibson Explorer in a Flametop Cherry finish. Gibson Les Paul Recording (1977/8, Cream White)

Here we have a rare Cream White Gibson Les Paul Recording guitar. The recording is a guitar well ahead of its time, sporting a vast array of tone options. With the discontinuation of the Les Paul Personal in 1969, Gibson used some of Les Paul’s innovations for the guitar that was to become his favourite model, the Les Paul Recording Model. This guitar was designed to be used mainly as a tool in the recording studio, the Recording featured a dual set of diagonal, low impedance pickups that could send output sounds directly to a recording console or as Les Paul did as he used this model for live shows, a flip of a switch activated the high end of the custom low/high impedance circuitry for use with a standard amp. The Les Paul Recording Model stayed in production until 1979, with several thousand guitars produced. Although much rarer than the mass produced Les Paul models, this has become a highly collectable guitar. Guitar lives in its hard-case.

Gibson Les Paul, Classic ‘60 (Blue-burst, 2012)

There we have a Gibson Les Paul Classic with a fine top in a blue finish. The Classic is every bit a classic, and indeed it is with its unusual finish. Lately Gibson has started to use some more unusual colours like green and blue and this is a good example. It is one of the finest guitars in the collection and has the typical slim 60s neck profile.  Therefore we have here a gorgeous 2012 Gibson Les Paul Classic with that easy playing thin neck.. The instrument is sound wise also awesome too as it is kitted out with great stock ceramic pickups. Guitar is a great player and lives in its hardcase.

Here a cool Fender Telecaster in translucent red finish made in USA 1978. Great  model with all the hardware trimmings. The guitar is in great  condition for its age and has hardly any play wear. Great looker with  the white scratch-plate against the red finish. The guitar sounds great and is very playable. Collectible machine to the max and great player alike with ounces of mojo and a great vintage feel to it. You can find Tele’s in many colours, although  the red colour seems to be hard to find. Guitar lives in it’s hard case.

Fender Telecaster (1978, Antigua)

Fender Telecaster in Antigua finish made in USA 1978. The guitar is in great condition with minor playwear. Great looker with the Antigua scratch-plate on the overall Antigua finish of the rest of the guitar. The guitar has the usual bridge and neck single coil pick ups and produces the instantly recognisable twangy tone.  Fender telecasters have been produced in many finishes;  however, the Antigua colour is very hard to find. Fender has recently started re-producing guitars in this finish. Guitar lives in its hard case.

Fender Stratocaster (1974, Natural Wood)

Here a 1974 Fender Stratocaster hardtail electric guitar in natural finish. The natural wood has a great and interesting grain  in parts and the overall result is stunning. The guitar plays very well, all the hardware operates as it should, the electrics work flawlessly. The guitar has only minimal play wear and shows signs of patina. You won’t find many early 1970s Strats in such a great nick. Great looker and a killer player, as you would expect from a classic fender guitar. The wood on the neck has also beautifully aged to a rich satin finish. So, here we have a very playable and functional guitar with ounces of mojo and a great vintage feel to it.
