This Yamaha SG-70 made in Japan in 1974 in a matte black finish is a midrange SG from the 1974-1976 line up. Prior to the now famous Yamaha SG-2000, Yamaha Music Corporation produced a series of early Yamaha SG double cutaway models. These were the flat bodied Yamaha SG-30, 35, 50 and 70. In 1974 the a carved top SG-90 and SG-175 were released. The SG-70 has great playability through the slim and fast neck. Built from a solid mahogany body and neck, rosewood fret board with mother of pearl dot position markers and embossed serial number, Chrome Hardware and Tuning pegs. The sound comes from 2 Yamaha Humbucker style pick ups. The guitar has aged nicely with its binding nicely faded to a clotted cream colour. Yamaha SG-70 guitars were made from 1974 till 1975 in translucent Black, and Red and Natural Wood.
