Here an uncommon Yamaha SX-900A in Cherry Sunburst, crafted in Japan in 1976. The SX series, also referred to as “Devilhead Guitars,” was developed in tandem with the SG series, succeeding the earlier SG-90/175 models from 1974-75. The SX series experienced a short production period, with the final models being released in 1978. The ‘A’ models boasted two humbuckers, whereas the ‘B’ models came with three single-coil pickups. The construction materials for the ‘A’ and ‘B’ models varied; the ‘A’ model featured a Maple and Mahogany body, and its neck was made of Mahogany with an Ebony fretboard. Renowned musicians such as Tommy Bolin and Rory Gallagher were known to play these guitars.
