Fender Jazzmaster (Ocean Turquoise, 1966)

Here an uncommon offset Fender guitar model with a handful of transition features. This 1966 Jazzmaster, in a custom Ocean Turquoise colour with a matched headstock is an unusual beast, It comprises a standard Jazzmaster body, but the neck is a bound rosewood fretboard with pearly dot markers, as the later versions had block inlays. Fender offered the turquoise colour from 1965-1971, in fact it was an acrylic colour made by DuPont for Ford cars to start off with, nonetheless it has started to show signs of checking. Pot codes date the guitar to week 12, 1966 and serial places the guitar at 1966.

The frets appear original. as there are some traces of fret nibs from the binding, but these are less pronounced that you’d see with Gibson guitars. The guitar is accompanied with a host of case candy, notably a coiled lead, strap and cloth, plus copies of various magazines and calendars, this guitar featured in May 2019 Guitar Magazine.
