Here is a 1999 Gibson Futura, crafted in Natural Korina Wood as a limited edition. The guitar resembles a standard Explorer but features a split V-shaped headstock. Despite its angular appearance, it is well-balanced and plays smoothly. The Gibson Futura was part of the “New Look” models designed in the late 1950s, which included the Explorer/Futura, the Moderne, and the now-famous Flying V. Each model has become iconic, either for its role in shaping rock history or for its scarcity, like the Moderne, which has seemingly vanished and reached mythical status. Explorers, Flying Vs, and the seldom reissued Modernes are now highly collectible guitars. This particular example resides in its original rectangular hard case.
