Here a flagship guitar of Gibson’s 1970s Guitar development, the 1978 Gibson RD Artist – Rare model Gibson guitar and in the top of the range of the 1970s Gibson electric guitar building with its built-in Moog electronics circuit. The RD range comprised an RD Standard, RD Custom and the RD Artist which was the only model in the range with the Moog electronics. This is the 1978 version of one of the most ambitious Gibson electric guitars, designed by Gibson’s R& D team, hence the prefix RD Artist. The guitar is a Pandora’s box with all the sound options. In addition to simple tone volume, it has a ” Bright” switch and “Expander / compression” circuits. The bridge is a standard and the Stop Tail is a fine-tuning factory fitted P-6 unit. Plays great and keeps very well in tune. Lives in its rectangular hard case.
