This Gibson Les Paul Classic, 2002 with a fine Cherry Sunburst top is indeed classic. It is one of the nicest guitars in the collection and has the typical classic slim 60s neck profile. This guitar an old school design of beauty with its understated simple and classy top. The instrument has a fantastic feel and killer look to it, sound wise it is awesome too as it is kitted out with great stock ceramic pickups. Guitar is a great player and lives in its hard-case.
Here we have a well preserved Yamaha SX-900B – “The Devils Head” , 1976, in natural wood finish. This guitar belongs to the now discontinued Yamaha SX series, also known as the “Devil Heads” series, due to its distinct angular features. These guitars are quite rare, and although they were made primarily for the domestic market, even in Japan they are rare. Initial production started in 1974 alongside the Yamaha SG range; The Yamaha SX-900B is the top of the range of the series and like its sibling the SX-800B, sports 3 independent single coil, high output pick ups that can be engaged with a 3-way pick up selector switch. The construction materials varied between the A and B versions. The B version was made out of Maple and Japanese Ash (Sen) for the body and the neck was built from ash with an ebony board.
Here a cool looking Les Paul DC Standard in a green flame finish, a standout in the Gibson Les Paul DC Standard series, made in the USA in 1998. It boasts a gloss green finish over a figured maple top, complementing a double-cutaway mahogany body. The guitar features a slim-profile mahogany neck set into the body, with a 24-fret rosewood bound fingerboard. The sound and tone is rich and full through a pair of humbuckers, operated by a 3-way switch along with master volume and tone knobs. The gold hardware, including Grover tuners, are in clean condition. The guitar is in great overall shape, free of modifications, breaks, or repairs, with some minor playwear. It resides in a plush-lined hard case.
Here another Gibson Marauder, a product of Gibson innovation with Bill Lawrence. The Marauder line was launched in 1974 and remained in production until 1979; being replaced by the Gibson Sonex series around 1980. This Gibson type guitar was initially produced at the Kalamazoo plant, but gradually production was transferred to the newer Nashville plant. The Marauder, along with the Gibson Grabber Bass were Gibson’s mid-seventies budget guitar models; still a Gibson, and not cheap, but certainly not their lowest price electric; though there was a more up-market version, the Marauder Custom,
The guitar sports a body shape rather like a Les Paul, but has a bolt-on neck. The body and neck are made from poplar wood and hard maple and the instrument is finished in clear satin lacquer, allowing to see the underlying wood grain. There are three distinct tone settings on the Marauder’s selector switch. The pick ups are a classic Bill Lawrence design with the front pickup is similar to the Super Humbucker with small additional magnets reinforcing and directing the field, while the bridge pickup has a single, iron-cored coil, with a magnet below and iron strips from the lower magnet pole. The fast, easy-action neck is made from Canadian maple. The fingerboard is made from rosewood with dot inlays and the distinctive peghead headstock is of “Flying V-series” design.
Gibson Johnny A, signature model, flame-top. This guitar appears to be a cross between a Solid Body and a hollow-body guitar and looks similar to a symmetrical but sharper pointed Gibson Midtown. Sporting a smaller body than a 335 or 339, we have a luscious looking semi acoustic guitar that plays more like a solid body guitar. The guitar has looks and plays phenomenally well. Kitted out with a factory Bigsby and powerful pickups make for a very versatile and good looking instrument. The Johnny A signature model is only issued in small numbers and a sought after Guitar henceforth. Issued as a custom shop model it lives in a plush custom shop case with purple lining.
New to collection. Here we have a 1977 Fender Stratocaster electric Guitar in faded cream white. Great looking Strat with killer appearance and a very versatile instrument and a joy to play. Chrome hardware which is slightly tarnished due to the use over the years, giving the guitar an attractive patina. Defo one of the best vintage strats kicking around. Very responsive guitar and easy to play. Lovely cream aged coloured finish. Good condition, no major marks or dents. Lives in Fender hard-case
A 2001 Fender Shoreline Stratocaster with twin humbuckers and Pearly Gates pickups is among my finer guitars. It boasts high-output Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates pups, all original and factory-installed. Definitely one of the top dual Humbucker Stratocasters available. It’s a highly responsive and effortless guitar to play. The finish is a beautiful sand-coloured silver/gold metallic. It’s in great condition with no marks or dents and resides in its Fender hard case..

This Yamaha SG-70 made in Japan in 1974 in a matte black finish is a midrange SG from the 1974-1976 line up. Prior to the now famous Yamaha SG-2000, Yamaha Music Corporation produced a series of early Yamaha SG double cutaway models. These were the flat bodied Yamaha SG-30, 35, 50 and 70. In 1974 the a carved top SG-90 and SG-175 were released. The SG-70 has great playability through the slim and fast neck. Built from a solid mahogany body and neck, rosewood fret board with mother of pearl dot position markers and embossed serial number, Chrome Hardware and Tuning pegs. The sound comes from 2 Yamaha Humbucker style pick ups. The guitar has aged nicely with its binding nicely faded to a clotted cream colour. Yamaha SG-70 guitars were made from 1974 till 1975 in translucent Black, and Red and Natural Wood.
Another flagship guitar of my collection, the holy grail of Yamaha SG guitars, we have here the Yamaha SG-175, the top of the range SG that hit the music scene in 1974. This Yamaha SG-175 initially caught the eye of Carlos Santana who tried and tested the Yamaha SG-175 out. Although he thought it a great guitar, he deemed the SG-175 too light, and hence lacked the sustain he was looking for. Yamaha Music Co used his input in design and functionality to develop the now famous Yamaha SG-2000, probably the earliest famous Yamaha electric guitar. The changes to the SG-175 design meant a evolution to a heavier and contoured solid body electric guitar, the Yamaha SG-2000. For weight and resonance transfer, a brass block was added under the bridge and the guitar was made with a thru body neck
Copies of some of the original hybrids of SG-175/2000 can be seen on his Santana’s live renditions of “She’s not there”, “Europa”, “Black magic woman” and more recordings from the album “Moonflower”. The Yamaha SG-175 was produced in only small numbers, as only the best of the best of materials were used and is now a very sought after instrument amongst Yamaha SG aficionados.
It is a brilliantly high-quality guitar built with a Honduran Mahogany body, bound with ornate abalone binding, the set neck is made from one-piece bound mahogany with ebony fret-board, again with decorative mother of pearl split-wing markers. The headstock is quite plain with triple binding surrounding the wood, there is no decorative floral motif inlay as common with the later SG-2000 and SG-1000, just the Yamaha Logo.
Yamaha SG-175 (1974)
Here a Yamaha SG-2000s, a stunning Yamaha SG-2000s in translucent tobacco sunburst, it came in excellent condition. This is the -s variant denoted Yamaha SG-2000s due to the slimmer and more tapered neck and the different electrics, i.e. Coil Taps for the tone pots. The Standard SG-2000, when it was launched in 1976, came without that and only got kitted out with C/T after 1981.
The guitar is quite heavy, with a thru body neck that shows up nicely in the dark brown, brass sustain plate under the bridge and an ebony fret-board with abalone split wing fret markers. The guitar comes with original case. Weight of guitar approx. 4.4 Kgs, neck width at nut approx. 4.3 cm.
This WAL bass began as a fretless Geddy Lee model, commissioned in all-black with gold hardware by Jürgen Dehmel from the music stream “Die Neue Deutsche Welle,” or Germany’s New Wave. Nena, the band known worldwide for “99 Luftballons” or “99 Air Balloons,” originally owned it. The serial number W2053 is listed in the WAL database as being crafted in 1983 for Nena. Consequently, the bass featured on recordings and live performances from 1983 to 1986 with Nena.
